G8 pledges five billion dollars to fight child illness

This is the big news coming out of the G8 meeting being held in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada..Too bad the G8 can’t pledge doctors cause that’s what it will take to improve stats on maternal and child/infant health and mortality.

Just had a public health professional here from a foreign country who returned to Four Villages after spending the day at Kumasi’s Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the very heart of Kumasi-“I’ve never seen so many health care professionals act with so little compassion.”

I’m a Rotarian. Our club is overseeing the construction of a clinic at Krakosua, a village in the bush in Brong Ahafo. Not only that, we are sponsoring the training of the nurse to staff the clinic. Patience Yeboah, a bright young girl who has finished senior secondary school and native of the village, has just started a nurses’ training course at Tepa……
