Congrats to Kwame Anthony Appiah! His latest book, THE HONOR CODE, has been included in The New York Times list of the 100 Most Notable Books of 2010.
Here is quote in the article:
“THE HONOR CODE: How Moral Revolutions Happen. By Kwame Anthony Appiah. (Norton, $25.95.) A philosopher traces the demise of dueling and slavery among the British and of foot-binding in China, and suggests how a fourth horrific practice — honor killings in today’s Pakistan — might someday meet its end.”
When I mentioned all this to Charity, she said, “There’s a lot to change here.”
“Like what, dear?” I asked.
“Female circumcision in Northern Ghana and big big funerals here in Ashanti that leave families in debt.”
Yes, Kwame Appiah, come home to Ghana and start the conversation….
